As part of New York Comic Con, Marvel just announced the definitive Magneto story, spanning the entirety of X-Men lore. With an acclaimed creative team and strong hints that Magneto won't survive the narrative, this is major news for any fan of the Master of Magnetism.
Debuting in 1963's The X-Men #1, Magneto quickly became one of Marvel's most iconic villains, going from maniacal supervillain to complex antihero. Sometimes the X-Men's greatest ally, sometimes their most vital ally, Magneto is one of the most powerful - and certainly most influential - mutants in Marvel lore.
Now, Marvel will tell the definitive Magneto story, from his tragic childhood in Auschwitz concentration camp to his days as America's foremost mutant terrorist to the future of mutantkind, with the character's death looming over it all.
Brian Michael Bendis and Andrea Sorrentino Team For Magneto: End of Days

Announced at New York Comic Con's 'Marvel Comics: House of Ideas' Panel, Magneto: End of Days is coming from Brian Michael Bendis and Andrea Sorrentino, who previously teamed for 2015's Old Man Logan, as well as colorist Dave Stewart. Marvel explains:
The all-new series delivers a lavishly illustrated saga that examines the life of one of the most enduring and complex characters in all of comics, with his expansive story told from a fresh illuminating perspective. Moving through landmark moments from Magneto’s past, present, and future, each issue unfolds from a different point in his life, creating a sweeping portrait of a character who defines the power of Marvel storytelling.
From the near future where the choices Magneto made play out in very surprising ways to new insights into the pivotal eras of his past, MAGNETO: END OF DAYS is a revelatory look at an explosive life of conviction and contradiction that shaped the X-Men and the entire Marvel Universe, with guest stars galore!
With Magneto featured in Marvel Studios’ Avengers: Doomsday this December, the prestige series gives readers new and old a chance to dive into the character’s powerful legacy.
Marvel has shared gorgeous interior art from Sorrentino, below, whose cover shows Magneto alongside a blood-red skull. The publisher has also shared covers from Alex Maleev, Jerome Opeña and Netho Diaz, above.
Speaking about the project, Bendis states:
Magneto is one of Stan Lee and Jack Kirby’s best creations. I’ve been able to write this character over the years in books like House of M (2005), Avengers Vs. X-Men (2012), and Uncanny X-Men (2013), and I’ve loved every second of it. This time, we’re going to delve into his world in very curated unique chapters from every era of the Marvel Universe. And I’m reuniting with some my favorite comic creators - Andrea and Dave together is a special event in itself, and Tom Brevoort is responsible for some of my best moments at Marvel. We’ve been working on this book for many months and it’s just beautiful.
Artist Andrea Sorrentino adds:
Working on such an iconic character like Magneto, with all that he represents for Marvel history, has been both an exciting and an intimidating challenge. I’m drawing one of the most popular and beloved comic characters, who has been penned and drawn by some of the best artists in the industry, but that encourages me to try to experiment with layouts and find new ways to show put his powers and personality on the page. I’m so excited to work with Brian on another series after our time together on Old Man Logan (2015) and I can't wait for readers to see what Brian, Dave and myself have been working on these last few months.
This is a developing storu, more will be added shortly...
