Police say two sheep dead after Canberra property invaders injured flock

Police are investigating after multiple sheep at a Canberra property were allegedly rounded up and injured, causing two to die.

ACT Policing today said they were seeking public assistance after the incident of animal cruelty at a rural property in Tuggeranong on Wednesday night.

A statement from police said the sheep were found in a holding pen by the property's owner on Thursday morning.

"After speaking to the owner, it is believed multiple persons attended the property on Wednesday evening and with the assistance of dogs, rounded up eight sheep and moved them into a holding pen,"

police said.

"In the holding pen, multiple sheep were deliberately injured, resulting in the death of one sheep and the euthanasia of another due to the severity of its injuries."

Police allege the property was also ransacked, and a "large amount of disruption" caused to the premises.

Police eyeing vehicles seen in vicinity

The police statement included some details about a vehicle seen near the property on the night of the alleged incident.

Anyone who saw anything unusual on the evening of September 16 on the eastern side of the Monaro Highway, between the paintball facility and Johnson Drive roundabout, is being asked to contact ACT Policing.

Anyone who saw any vehicles coming or going from the Old Tuggeranong Road on the eastern side of the Monaro Highway near the pine forest is also being urged to contact police.

They are also seeking anyone with information about a late 90s or early 2000s sedan seen in the same area on Wednesday.

"ACT Policing takes all reports of animal cruelty seriously and is seeking public assistance regarding this incident,"

police said.
