Pokémon Legends: Z-A’s New Freebie Is One You Absolutely Shouldn’t Miss

A brand-new distribution event has just gone live on Pokémon Legends: Z-A, and out of everything offered for free so far, this is the one you won’t want to miss out on. There have been tons of free giveaways in the latest Generation 9 core game. For example, players can grab a free Mewtwo in Pokémon Legends: Z-A, which also comes with a special quest and the possibility of Mega Evolving the Legendary Gen 1 creature. That is not to mention the free Alpha Charizard that was given out to all players or the free Mythical Diancie event.

Now, another brand-new distribution has commenced, and it’s the most important one the game has seen. As was highlighted in a post by Serebii on X, another free Pokémon distribution event has started in Pokémon Legends: Z-A. From now until February 26, 2027, players can obtain a very rare Pokémon for free via the Mystery Gift feature. To do this, you’ll need a stable connection to the internet, as is usually the case. This new distribution event is one of the most important ones in years, and it’s the first time this Pokémon has become available in over 10 years.

The distribution event in question is giving out a free copy of Poké Ball Pattern Vivillon to all players in Legends: Z-A. The giveaway doesn’t come as a surprise, as it was announced as a special reward for a community challenge involving the free Spewpa giveaway in Pokémon Legends: Z-A a while back. However, the reward is now available, and there’s no underselling how rare Poké Ball Pattern Vivillon actually is. This version of the Bug- and Flying-type Pokémon cannot be obtained organically in the games.

Poké Ball Pattern Vivillon is event-exclusive, meaning there is no other way of acquiring it, unless another Trainer is willing to trade it to you. The last time this creature became available was through an in-person distribution event at Pokémon Center Hiroshima. This happened back in May 2016 for Pokémon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire players. Before that, Poké Ball Pattern Vivillon was briefly available in 2014 for Pokémon X and Y. This is the first time it’s appeared in over 10 years, making it one of the rarest Pokémon in the games.

To obtain the free Poké Ball Pattern Vivillon, it’s rather simple. Regardless of whether or not you participated in the aforementioned Spewpa event, all you have to do is access the Mystery Gift feature in Pokémon Legends: Z-A, and from there, select Get via Internet. The Vivillon (Poké Ball Pattern) Gift should appear as a new option, and once you select it, you’ll obtain the creature. Only one copy of this rare Pokémon is given to each player.

Don’t forget to save the game after getting this free Poké Ball Pattern Vivillon – you know, just in case. That’s pretty much it. If you can’t obtain it immediately, be sure you do this before the offer expires on February 26, 2027; mark your calendar or schedule some alarms. You won’t want to miss this opportunity to get one of the rarest Pokémon of all time for free in Pokémon Legends: Z-A.
