NEW DELHI: Hitting out at Congress after its Kerala unit sought Chief Justice Surya Kant’s resignation, BJP Monday said it is a confirmation of its charge that the party is out to destroy constitutional institutions.Reacting the CJI’ss comments to the media over the Delhi protests that law and order is not his domain, Kerala Congress said he should then quit. “We will find your replacement who can handle it,” it said. The CJI was speaking on sidelines of an NHRC event, and his comments were seen as a reiteration of doctrine of the separation of powers among different institutions.Kerala Congress, facing backlash, later deleted the post and removed the person responsible from his post.
However, BJP said it was confirmation of their charge that the opposition party was seeking to intimidate and destroy institutions. Union minister Kiren Rijiju said the Congress’s next target is judiciary as it wants to destroy all constitutional and democratic institutions of the country. “All anti-India gangs are joining hands.
All patriotic Indians will also come together. Protest is the right of every citizen but brazenly abusing constitutional authorities is deplorable.
Congress is direction-less now.”In a swipe at Congress MP Rahul Gandhi, he said Congress can improve its numbers if it has a mature and committed neta who doesn’t enjoy 200 holidays in a year.Targeting Congress, BJP MP Nishikant Dubey said, “After President, V-P, PM and CEC, Maharaja Rahul Gandhi has now demanded CJI’s resignation too.”Now, he said, Rahul will be PM, Sharjeel Imam president, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra the CJI and Khalistani activist Gurpatwant Singh Pannun the CEC. India’s ambassador to the US will be George Soros, Dubey added.
