SINGAPORE, Oct 1 — Authorities today warned of flash flood risks in parts of Singapore, urging the public to avoid two affected areas in particular.

National water agency PUB issued alerts on social media platform X, advising motorists and pedestrians to steer clear of the traffic junction at Pesawat Drive and Jurong Port Road from 2.13pm, and Jalan Boon Lay between International Road and Enterprise Road from 2.14pm, The Straits Times reported.

The National Environment Agency (NEA) forecast heavy rain over northern, western and central districts between 2.20pm and 3.10pm.

In its September outlook, NEA had cautioned that short, thundery showers were likely on most days during the second half of the month, particularly in the late morning and afternoon.

Singapore recorded higher rainfall in this period compared with the first fortnight of September, with PUB issuing several flash flood risk alerts in recent days.
