GPL 2026/27: Hearts of Oak target league summit against Basake Holy Stars

Translate

Hearts of Oak will aim to move to the top of the Ghana Premier League table when they host Basake Holy Stars at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium on Friday, October 23.

The Phobians sit second with 14 points, level with the league leaders but behind on goal difference, and head into the encounter on the back of consecutive victories.

Hearts have scored eight goals and conceded just twice in seven matches, while remaining unbeaten at home in the league this season, with two wins and a draw from three games.

However, Basake Holy Stars will provide a stern test, having climbed to fifth with 12 points after winning four of their opening seven matches.

The Ayinase-based side have won three of their last five league games but face the challenge of improving an away record that has seen them lose all three matches on the road this season.

Hearts will also be seeking their first home victory over Basake Holy Stars, having recorded one draw and one defeat in their previous two home meetings with the visitors.

With both sides enjoying encouraging spells of form, Friday's encounter presents an opportunity for Hearts to strengthen their title ambitions, while Holy Stars will hope to continue their impressive start to the campaign.
