Robin Padilla says he no longer has plans to run for public office

Senator Robin Padilla said Friday that he no longer has plans to run for public office as he seeks to live a peaceful life, adding that it is clear that he does not belong in politics.

“Maliliit pa ang aking mga anak, at isang tahimik na buhay-Islami ang aking pinapangarap at minimithi,” Padilla said in a Facebook post.

(My children are still young, and I dream and long for a peaceful Islamic life.)

He named Senators Alan Peter Cayetano, Imee Marcos, Christopher “Bong” Go, Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa, Rodante Marcoleta, and former presidential chief legal counsel Salvador Panelo as his preferred running mates for Vice President Sara Duterte.

The senator expressed gratitude to his friends and supporters, but said, “halata naman po na hindi ako nababagay sa mundong ito.”

(It is clear that I do not belong in this kind of world.)

Padilla’s post came days after the Department of Justice issued a subpoena in connection with the complaint filed against him for obstruction of justice over Dela Rosa’s departure from the Senate amid an ICC warrant.

For his part, he maintained that he did not help Dela Rosa escape and that his colleague only hitched a ride in his car. —AOL, GMA News
