One person killed in shooting near Paris, French prime minister says

At least one person was killed and four people were injured in a shooting near Paris, the French Prime Minister Sébastien Lecornu said Friday.
“The individual has been apprehended and taken into police custody,” he said on X.
One person has been arrested and charged on four counts, including murder and possession of a firearm, with the “aggravating circumstance that the acts were committed on the basis of actual or supposed membership in a particular race, ethnicity, a purported race, ethnic group, nation, or specific religion,” France’s anti-terrorism prosecutor’s office told NBC News in a statement.
The incident occurred in Trappes and La Verrière, a suburb in Yvelines department, about 20 miles west of Paris, authorities said.
Trappes’ mayor, Ali Rabeh, said on X that a man had opened fire on people from his car. An investigation was underway to determine the motive of the shooter, he added.
One of those injured was a 12-year-old girl, he told France’s BFM TV.
