Egypt strongly condemns Israeli official’s incursion into Al-Aqsa Mosque

Egypt strongly condemned the storming of the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound by an Israeli official and a group of settlers under the protection of Israeli police.

In an official statement released by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates, Cairo denounced the act as a violation of the sanctity of Islamic holy sites and a direct provocation to the sentiments of Muslims worldwide that risks fueling further tension and escalation across the region.

Egypt underscored the critical need to adhere to the established historical and legal status quo of Al-Aqsa Mosque and to respect the Hashemite Custodianship over Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem.

The ministry warned against any attempts to alter the Arab and Islamic identity of the city or impose a new reality on its sacred sites, calling for an immediate halt to unilateral measures that undermine prospects for calm and regional stability.
