Colin Jost, Danny Chun Set New Comedy Series ‘6 Bed 1 Bath,’ Produced Outside Studio System

Colin Jost and “The Office” writer Danny Chun are launching a new, original comedy series produced outside the Hollywood studio system.
Titled “6 Bed 1 Bath,” the sitcom follows a group of five roommates in their 20s who share an apartment with a man who has lived there since 1982 and continued to build new bedrooms every time his rent increased, per the logline. The series recently wrapped production in New York City and will premiere across free, ad-supported video-on-demand platforms, such as Tubi, Pluto TV and the Roku Channel.
“6 Bed 1 Bath” was not produced by a major studio or streamer. Instead, Jost and Chun, who first worked together at the Harvard Lampoon, teamed up with the independent Revue Studios, which financed and structured the project around brand partnerships. The partnerships — facilitated by Revue, CAA Entertainment Partnerships and production companies These Pictures and No Notes — allowed Jost and Chun to retain full creative control of the series.
“Danny and I just wanted to make a show we thought was funny and somehow those are the hardest shows to get made,” said Jost. “So we found a new, innovative way to do it outside of the normal studio system and we feel very lucky about how the cast and the crew came together. We’re excited for everyone to see it.”
Three-time Emmy winner Jost joined “Saturday Night Live” in 2005 and currently serves as the co-anchor of “Weekend Update” with Michael Che. Chun began his career writing for “The Simpsons” before he joined “The Office.” He is currently executive producing a film he wrote for Sony Animation and has feature projects set up at both Sony and Dreamworks Animation.
“6 Bed 1 Bath” is executive produced by Jost, Scarlett Johansson, Chun, Andrew Singer, Jeff Grosvenor, Jonathan Lia, Ryan Case, Molly McMillen and Jon Liebman.
