Terry Pratchett's Discworld Novels Take Their Ultimate Form in Gigantic Mega-Book

The ultimate collection of Terry Pratchett's Discworld novels has been created, as online creator Nerdforge showcases a custom mega-book themed after the cosmic turtle Great A'Tuin.

Starting with 1983's The Colour of Magic, Terry Pratchett's Discworld is a parody of traditional fantasy storytelling, with each book chronicling a different story from a fantastical world with recurring characters including the cowardly 'wizzard' Rincewind, City Watch officer Sam Vimes and provincial witch Granny Weatherwax.

With forty-one main novels in the Discworld series (not to mention short stories, video games and spin-off publications), there's never been an official volume collecting them all - however, fans can now see what this gargantuan tome would look like.

DIY YouTuber Nerdforge Creates the Ultimate Discworld Collection

In a recent video recalling a 2025 project, Nerdforge creators Martina and Hansi disassemble all of the main Discworld novels, assembling the pages into a hand-cranked bookwheel reminiscent of the type first invented in the 1500s.

A series of cogs allow the creators to easily turn the pages, while final touches add brass-colored turtles in a reference to Pratchett's character Great A'Tuin - a turtle god which carries the flat Discworld on its back (with four gigantic elephants sandwiched in-between.)

Nerdforge is known online for ambitious creations, with other projects including assembling a mock Victorian Storefront around their office, a 3D canvas featuring a Cyberpunk City reminiscent of 1982's Blade Runner and oversized leatherbound editions of Brandon Sanderson's Stormlight Archive series, presented to the author himself.

2026 Begins a New Era for Terry Pratchett's Discworld

While Nerdforge's video celebrates a project completed in 2025, it's yet another celebration of Terry Pratchett's fantasy universe in 2026. This year saw the announcement of a new shared universe of graphic novel adaptations, initially intended to launch this year.

Rachael Stott and Gary Chudleigh's Thief of Time has been delayed to September 9, 2027, with Monstrous Regiment to follow soon after, both from Doubleday. A comic adaptation of The Wee Free Men from Rhianna Pratchett is planned to release 2027, published by Puffin.

The year also saw Discworld publisher Transworld give away 10,000 copies of Unseen Academicals as part of the National Year of Reading, with the football-themed story planned to tie in with the 2026 FIFA World Cup - part of an effort to "combat the steep decline in children's reading."

Later this year Modiphius Entertainment is expected to release two new games based on Pratchett's work, with Kill Sam Vimes and the Librarian-centric Readers Digested slated for November 2026 with pre-orders open since mid-August.

While Pratchett sadly passed away in 2015, these new projects could mean that the author is more read and enjoyed in 2026 than any year before, with 2027 promising more exciting projects.

Discworld's Popularity Won't End Anytime Soon

While there haven't been any new mainline novels since 2015, the Discworld fandom is as active and engaged as ever, and it's clear Terry Pratchett's deeply empathetic, principled work won't be forgotten any time soon.

While TV adaptations like 2010's Going Postal and 2021's The Watch have failed to capture the magic of Pratchett's satirical but engrossing world, the novels have lost none of their charm, and a combination of the upcoming graphic novel adaptations, evangelical fans and charitable works are actively reaching out to bring a new audience to the Discworld.

Nerdforge's gigantic Discworld bookwheel shows just how massive Pratchett's contribution to fantasy literature was, especially because it doesn't even include spin-off works like the various 'Mapps,' in-world cookbooks and almanacs and children's books like Where's My Cow? and The Nac Mac Feegles' Big Wee Alphabet Book.

Any fans worried that Terry Pratchett's Discworld will fade from memory can rest easy, as fans and publishers alike ensure that new fans will continue to discover this unique franchise.
