Asian Para Games 2026 Day 5 Live: India enjoyed another memorable day at the Asian Para Games, adding 26 medals to its tally on Thursday to reach 88 after Day 4 in Nagoya. With 21 gold, 26 silver and 41 bronze medals, India held fourth place in the overall standings and moved closer to the target of crossing 100 medals.

Satyanarayan, Head Coach of Team India, described the tally as a proud moment for the contingent and credited the athletes, coaches and support staff for their hard work. He said the team would aim to maintain its momentum and finish the Games on a stronger note.

Archery was among India’s major highlights. Sheetal Devi secured two gold medals, winning the women’s individual compound event and the compound mixed team competition with Toman Kumar. Debutant Swati Chaudhary made history by winning India’s first-ever medal in the Women’s W1 Individual event. She claimed silver after narrowly losing 4–6 to China’s Mengkan Cen in the final.

Para-athletics delivered another podium sweep for India in the Men’s High Jump T42/T63. Shailesh Kumar took gold with a Games-record jump of 1.89m, while Varun Singh Bhati won silver with 1.84m and Rahul earned bronze with 1.81m.

Suvarna Raj added gold in the Women’s Discus Throw F54 with a throw of 15.66m. Anjanaben Bumbadiya topped the podium in the Women’s 400m T47 in 59.97 seconds, followed by compatriot Jayanti Behera, who took silver in 1:00.65. Dilip Mahadu Gavit also won gold in the Men’s 400m T47. Tejalben Damor claimed silver in the Women’s 400m T12, finishing her campaign with one silver and one bronze.

Para-swimming contributed three more medals. Kapil Kumar won silver in the Men’s 400m Freestyle S10 with a time of 4:38.44. Swatik Patil secured bronze in the Men’s 100m Breaststroke SB9 in 1:13.77, while Tejas Nandkumar took bronze in the Men’s 100m Backstroke S7 in 1:18.58.

India will look to build on this strong performance as the contingent pursues the 100-medal milestone.
