FM, Lebanese PM discuss bilateral relations, developments in Lebanon

Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Expatriates Badr Abdelatty discussed the latest developments in Lebanon during a phone call with Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam as part of the ongoing consultations and coordination between the two countries and the exchange of views on regional developments and ways to strengthen bilateral relations.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement on Wednesday, September 16, 2026, that Abdelatty reiterated Egypt’s support for Lebanon’s sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity, stressing Egypt’s complete rejection of all Israeli violations and attacks against Lebanese sovereignty.

He also underscored the importance of Israel’s full withdrawal from the occupied Lebanese territories and the full and non-selective implementation of UN Security Council Resolution 1701.

He stressed Egypt’s support for Lebanon’s state institutions, particularly the Lebanese army.The call also addressed the broader, rapidly evolving regional developments and efforts to de-escalate tensions, as well as the repercussions of developments in the Red Sea on the security and safety of maritime navigation, freedom of international trade and energy supplies.

Abdelatty reviewed the Egyptian diplomatic efforts to prevent the escalation from spreading and to spare the region further tensions and instability.
