It's been ten years since Stardew Valley released, and in the decade since, it's become one of the most successful and popular indie games of all time. It's no surprise, then, that fans continue wanting new content. Thankfully, the game's creator, ConcernedApe, continues to release additional updates, with the last one, Stardew Valley 1.6, releasing in 2024. Another update, appropriately titled Stardew Valley 1.7, is in the works and will be the largest update yet.
ConcernedApe, whose real name is Eric Barone, is busy on Haunted Chocolatier, which means the release date for Stardew Valley 1.7 is still a bit of an unknown quantity. Thanks to mods, though, Stardew Valley is still getting a lot of support, even if it's not official content. Considering the original game is ten years old at this point, you might have run out of things to do. Thankfully, Stardew Valley: Timberline Falls will offer up a solution to that problem.
Stardew Valley: Timberline Falls is available on Nexus Mods now. The mod, which was created by Huskyn1nja, is a full fan-made expansion that adds a brand-new region into the game. With that new region comes 23 new NPCs, 12 new quests, and a whole lot more. In the expansion, players are welcomed to the new area by the Timberline Falls Tourism Department. Timberline Falls is a self-described "hidden gem of the hills," that comes with all of the following:
- A bustling town featuring 23 new NPCs, Ethical Big Box Store Buyco, and over 12 custom quests
- Complete bundles to unlock the town and a private living area
- The town consists of 12 Romanceable NPCs, 1 roommateable NPC, and custom wedding mechanics
- A Timberline Falls quest board featuring over 25 new special orders
- New crafting recipes, new cooking recipes, and new artisan goods
- Five new machines (all compatible with Automate) and six custom bombs
- New forage items and a fresh catch of 13 new fish
Romance options in Stardew Valley have always been one of the most important parts of the game, so it's nice to see a bunch of new ones added in here. However, platonic relationships will also be added in soon for the Timberline Falls expansion. A Timberline Dungeon and more NPCs and tools are also a part of the mod's roadmap.
As its creator notes, Timberline Falls is self-contained, which means it should be compatible with pretty much every major content mod out there. The expansion was uploaded just a few days ago, and it's gotten around 1,500 downloads in the past two days, with 44 endorsements on NexusMods. If you've been looking for a massive amount of new content for Stardew Valley, then this could definitely be worth checking out.
Both Haunted Chocolatier and Stardew Valley 1.7 feel like they're still a year or more away, so if you've been battling boredom in the base game, mods like Timberline Falls can be a great way to shake things up. Stardew Valley has no shortage of impressive mods, but this might be one of the most impressive ones we've seen to date. You can download the Timberline Falls expansion over on NexusMods now.
