Oman have secured their place at the men's World Cup Qualifier 2027 despite losing to UAE by 42 runs in the last match of the World Cup League 2 in Dubai. This means Namibia, one of the hosts of the World Cup alongside South Africa and Zimbabwe, will continue their qualification journey at the World Cup Qualifier Playoff.

Oman lost their last seven matches and finished tied with Namibia on 33 points in the standings, but qualified due to a better net run rate. Captain Rahul Chopra (47), Adeeb Usmani (47) and Basil Hameed (43) took UAE to 226 for 8 after being put in, with Oman left-arm spinner Shakeel Ahmed picking up 3 for 42. In reply, Oman were reduced to 28 for 3 and eventually managed 184 for 9. Mujibur Ali top-scored for Oman with 65.

Oman joined USA, Scotland and Netherlands as the four teams progressing directly from the competition to the 10-team global qualifier. Apart from Namibia, the remaining League 2 teams - Canada, Nepal and the UAE - will also have to play the eight-team Qualifier Playoff. Jersey and Kuwait, who have qualified for the playoff from the World Cup Challenge League A, and Italy and Uganda, from World Cup Challenge League B, are the other four teams.

The Qualifier Playoff will be the last chance for teams to advance to the World Cup, with four places up for grabs. A 10-team Global Qualifier will then determine the final four places at the World Cup.

A win at the Global Qualifier will also secure one team's direct entry to the group stage of the World Cup, while the teams finishing second, third and fourth will enter the newly formed Super Series.

The World Cup, which is set to run from October 2 to November 21, will feature 14 teams and 57 matches across 12 venues.
