Report: CEO, president exit Good Good after ad

Translate

The fallout from last month's controversial Good Good Golf ad continued Wednesday, with both the CEO and president exiting the company.

In a memo to employees, executive Alex Puchala said CEO Matt Kendrick stepped down and president Joe Flannery also decided to leave, Business Insider reported Wednesday night. Nahid Giga, a co-founder of the company, will serve as interim CEO.

The pair's exits are the latest dominoes to fall in the wake of the ad, which showed a man shoving to the ground a woman who was reaching for his new Callaway driver. The man, Garrett Clark, and woman, Alexis Miestowski, are among 12 content creators for Good Good, a popular golf brand that first launched as a YouTube channel in 2020 and now is among the largest content creators in the sport, featuring made-for-TV shows, apparel and other merchandise.

The video was deleted by Good Good and Callaway quickly after it was made public following criticism that it portrayed violence against women, though clips of the ad still made the rounds on social media after the official accounts took it down.

Good Good and Callaway, which had been partners since 2023, apologized in the ensuing days. Kendrick said, in part, "We made a mistake, and as CEO of Good Good, I own it," but he also later criticized Callaway for how it handled the situation in a social media post.

Kendrick also had told Front Office Sports that he did not see the ad before it was published. According to his LinkedIn profile, he had led the company since 2020.

The fallout from the ad, meanwhile, continued last week.

Good Good stepped away from its sponsorship of a PGA Tour tournament in November. Callaway ended its relationship with the company. National retailers including Dick's Sporting Goods and Golf Galaxy removed Good Good Golf apparel from their stores. And Golf Channel decided not to air the reboot of its popular "Big Break" series after partnering with the company for this year's series.
