Chelsea Set Unwanted 65-Year Record After 2-2 Draw With Hull City

Translate

Hull City became the latest club to breach Chelsea’s fragile defence and condemn the west London club to an unwanted record.

Mohamed Belloumi’s 28th-minute leveller ensured the Blues have now gone 20 league games without a clean sheet for the first time in 65 years.

The Blues reached the unwanted feat in Saturday’s 2-2 draw with Hull at Stamford Bridge.

It is the first time they have conceded two or more goals in the first four matches of a league campaign in ten years as well, as reported by talkSPORT.

Xabi Alonso’s side were aiming to banish the memories of last weekend’s defeat at Arsenal and started in blistering fashion.

Morgan Rogers’ expertly-taken finish fired Chelsea into a seventh-minute lead but some suspect defending handed Hull a way back into the match.

A hopeful ball into the box was misjudged by Jorrel Hato, allowing Belloumi to fire the Tigers level.

Chelsea, who have conceded three times in two of their three home games in all competitions this season, once again showed their defensive frailties.

Things got even worse for Alonso’s men just six minutes later when Belloumi lashed home from the edge of the box to fire the Premier League new boys in front.

Chelsea got themselves back on level terms in the 66th minute when Joao Pedro produced a neat finish after good work from Cole Palmer down the left.

But there is plenty of work to do for Alonso and his shaky backline who conceded three in the midweek Carabao Cup win over Leeds.
