Nashville Indie-Rockers Lombardy Run Through the Jungle in Fiery ‘Bazooka’ Video
Taking inspiration from classic war films, the clip finds the band members firing rockets from their guitars
Lombardy mix a little of Apocalypse Now with a dash of Tropic Thunder and Predator for the Nashville indie-rock band’s new video, “Bazooka.”
Filmed in a park in Madison, Tennessee, just outside of Nashville, the clip finds the four-piece on some kind of macho mission with only their instruments to protect them. They fire flames from their guitars and missiles from their bass, all while evading a low-flying helicopter. It’s goofy, “Get to the choppa!” fun, and underscores Lombardy’s knack for playing big riffs and giving little fucks.
Made up of singer-guitarists Jonathan Plevyak and Mike Scott , bassist-singer Seth Renfrow, and drummer Steve Mascarello, Lombardy mix rock, punk, and hip-hop, and have earned a reputation for unpredictable concerts. At one show, they took the stage dressed like The Sopranos’ Christopher Moltisanti, in suits and foam neck braces; at another, they donned athletic jerseys. During a recent performance at the Delaware Beaches Songwriters Festival, they went full Magnum P.I. in Hawaiian shirts.
Director Steve Jawn and the 10:10 Creative directed and produced the music video for “Bazooka.” The single is streaming now via East Iris Records/Virgin Music Group. Fans can expect to hear it when the band makes their Ryman Auditorium debut on Sunday, Sept. 27, opening for Starbomb. During a recent appearance on Rolling Stone’s Nashville Now podcast, Lombardy talked about the sometimes eccentric inspirations for their songs, like the Eighties workout videos that influenced their single “Jane Fonda.”

“When we were going into this album cycle… and thinking about the Eighties and Nineties, one thing exclusive to that time period was the mail-in aerobics video series that you get for $9.99 plus shipping and handling,” Renfrow said.
Said Scott: “Jane Fonda is the retro fitness icon that we all aspire to be.”
