2027: Nwuche urges APC women to mobilise for Tinubu

PORT HARCOURT — Chairman of the Governing Board of the South-South Development Commission (SSDC), Prince Chibudom Nwuche, has urged women of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State to approach the 2027 campaign for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election with dedication, discipline and integrity.

Nwuche, a former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, gave the charge at the Tinubu/Shettima 2027 Grassroots Mobilisation and Voter Sensitisation Programme in Port Harcourt.

He was represented at the event by Mr Ajugo Kingdom.

Nwuche said grassroots engagement remained essential to political mobilisation, adding that no political organisation could achieve sustainable success without meaningful engagement with the electorate.

He said women had an important role to play in political mobilisation, voter education, civic participation and democratic development.

“Through your passion, organisational capacity, community networks and leadership, you make significant contributions to political mobilisation, voter education, civic participation and democratic development,” he said.

“You are not merely participants in the political process. You are important stakeholders whose influence extends across families, communities, institutions and society.

“Your ability to connect with people, communicate ideas, build relationships and mobilise communities places you in a strategic position to advance the objectives of this programme.

“I therefore encourage you to approach this responsibility with dedication, discipline, integrity and a clear understanding of the importance of your contribution.”

Nwuche also reiterated his support for Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027 and the emergence of Kingsley Chinda as governor of Rivers State, alongside other candidates backed by the coalition.

He said the support would require sustained grassroots mobilisation ahead of the elections.

Meanwhile, Rivers State APC Chairman, Chief Tony Okocha, reaffirmed the party’s support for the Rainbow Coalition associated with Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.

Okocha said the coalition was being used to mobilise voters, including people who were not APC members, in support of Tinubu’s 2027 presidential bid.

He also highlighted what he described as the active participation of women in elections, saying their presence at polling units was significant.

“In virtually all the elections I have witnessed, women are always stronger than the men. On election day, you see young men play football. They don’t even have PVC. Their interest is football.

“But when you go to the polling units, you see women from beginning till the end. We are believers in the Rainbow Coalition because it is working for us.

“We are using it to mobilise all and sundry, including those who are not members of APC, to vote for President Tinubu. What is wrong with that?

“Recently, the media has been awash with that. But we support the stand of the FCT Minister, Chief Nyesom Wike,” Okocha said.
