Trump denies report on potential sanctions relief for Iran

President Donald Trump has rejected a media report of him offering Iran sanctions relief and unfreezing of its assets in exchange for concessions on its nuclear program.

"This is untrue. I offered them NOTHING," Trump posted on Truth Social Monday evening, adding that the media report is "a HOAX" and called for the immediate withdrawal of "this fake story."

Trump over the weekend rejected Iran's latest proposal to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, casting doubts over any diplomatic breakthrough.

The U.S. continues to demand that Iran agree to nuclear concessions while Iran wants talks to focus on the Strait of Hormuz and the U.S. naval blockade, Axios reported.

Meanwhile, Iran's President Masoud Pezeshkian recently told CBS News that both sides first need to agree on reopening the Strait of Hormuz. "Then we can sit down at the negotiating table and discuss other issues at hand," he said.

Pezeshkian affirmed that Iran has no intention of developing nuclear weapons. "We're still engaging in dialogue and we're still making our demands within the framework of international law," he noted. "We're not seeking war. War was imposed on us."
