Coronation Street to air tear-jerking Brody scenes in Kit's cancer story

Coronation Street's Kit Green continues his journey with breast cancer next week, as he begins chemotherapy.
It's an important step in the long journey that lies ahead, but he's not going through this alone as his family step up to support him in his hour of need…

"Being open with his emotions and showing vulnerability doesn't come naturally to cool customer Kit," explains our Corrie insider.
"Despite trying to maintain that tough facade, he clearly couldn't cope on his own. Kit's world has been turned upside down since the diagnosis, and as he starts chemo, he's set to face a whole new set of challenges…"
With Sarah Platt's murder trial just days away, Kit is being pressured by Bethany into being a character witness for his ex in court. The mixed emotions he feels towards Sarah have to be parked for now, as Kit is also building up to his first round of treatment for his illness.
Apprehensive about what's in store, Kit knows he has to get himself in the best mental and physical shape possible to commence chemo. On the day of his first session, Kit makes a big decision and asks son Brody Michaelis for a favour…
"Brody calls round to see Kit before he's due at the hospital," continues our source. "Grateful for the lad's support, Kit calmly plugs in his electric razor and hands it to Brody – he wants him to shave off his hair. If Kit's going to lose his hair, he wants it to be on his terms…"

It's an emotional moment as Brody honours his dad's wishes, bravely fighting back tears as he takes the razor in his hand. Both blokes know that life will never be the same again for the close-knit clan, as the family's genetic history casts a shadow over them all.
Kit then heads to hospital to start his treatment. He may like to think of himself as a lone wolf, but tiger mum Bernie Winter-Alahan isn't about to let Kit do this on his own and insists on being there to hold his hand.
Gradually letting the barriers down, Kit distracts himself by opening up to Bernie with sweet stories about his childhood. Bernie always felt guilty about giving Kit away, so it's comforting for her to fill in the gaps and hear what kind of an upbringing he had with his adopted family.

Exhausted after his stint on the ward, Kit arrives home in dire need of a rest. All he wants to do is get under the covers and take it easy, but Brody wants to see how his dad is doing and comes to check in on him.
"What a day – Brody is seriously shaken as Kit's cancer starts to feel very real," adds our spy. "He's proud of his dad, and tells him to keep fighting. They've only just found each other, and he doesn't want to lose him."
Hugging his son tightly, can Kit stay strong in the weeks and months ahead?
