The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) rescued eight crew members of a motorbanca that partially submerged off Dalupiri Island in Calayan, Cagayan, on Saturday, Oct. 31.
In a Facebook post, the PCG said Coast Guard Station (CGS) Calayan deployed rescue teams to save the crew members of M/B Rose Marie 1.
Five crew members were initially brought ashore, followed by the remaining three who were rescued by a second team.
All eight were transported to the Calayan Rural Health Unit for medical assessment.
One of the rescued crew members sustained a laceration on the right knee, while the others were assessed for suspected hypertension, the PCG said.
It was not clear from the PCG report what caused the motorbanca to partially submerge.
Calayan is an island municipality in the Babuyan Islands, which are separated from mainland Luzon by sea. It is Cagayan's farthest and only island town. — MCG, GMA News
