Roblox reveals The Hunt, with special missions in classic games to celebrate 20 years

It’s hard to believe that it’s been 20 years since Roblox first launched in 2006, outliving other popular MMOs like Club Penguin, Moshi Monsters, Bin Weevils and so many others.

The success of Roblox is no surprise when you consider its infinite space for creativity – players can create any world, sim, or RPG they want at their whim. The same success story can be seen for games like Minecraft, which turns 15 years old this year and features similar levels creative freedom.

But enough about that other blocky world – two decades of trolling noobs and spamming the infamous Roblox oof sound later, Roblox has unveiled a special event titled The Hunt: Roblox 20.

This is a platform-wide event that allows players to experience the most popular games in Roblox’s history, prompting players to complete challenges and unlock limited-edition UGC rewards.

When players join the Hub, they’ll find portals to 20 games, including classics like Lumber Tycoon 2 and Jailbreak to more modern titles like Adopt Me! and Grow a Garden.

Players will start at Year Zero, working their way up through 20 years of Roblox history and completing quests along the way.

Once completed, players will receive Year Infinity, which gives them access to 20 more games that are reflective of the best of 2026.

In addition, Roblox Plus subscribers have the chance to earn exclusive rewards during the event, but all players will be able to access the classic app theme that brings back nostalgic Roblox logos, colours and fonts.

However, Roblox Plus subscribers will be able to keep the classic app theme even after the event ends, including the classic avatar and profile frame.

OG Roblox Jailbreak creators, asimo3089 and badcc, also chimed in on the event: "What I love about Roblox is that anyone can come and build a game that reaches millions of players. I’ve made a dozen friends here that I’ve known for 15+ years now, and we’ve all gotten to work with incredibly talented people across every discipline imaginable."

For a game that is so dependent on creators for its success, it’s nice that Roblox is championing both the current Roblox community and the one of the past.

The event starts today (17 September) and will last until 28 September – so don’t miss out!
