ADC condemns illegal occupation of secretariat in Ekiti by ex-chair

The leadership of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Ekiti State Chapter, has strongly condemned the illegal entry and forceful occupation of the State Party Secretariat by the former Chairman, Ilesanmi Omolayo and some suspected hoodlums parading as party officials.

This was contained in a statement signed and made available to journalists by its publicity secretary, Chief Gboyega Aribisogan.

The party, which described the action as criminal, unlawful and an act of brigandage, said Omolayo was among the former State Chairmen whose tenure expired on May 13, 2026 and among those who dragged the party to court, a matter that is still pending before the Supreme Court.

According to the ADC, the act is aimed at causing confusion, breaching the peace, and derailing the ongoing reorganisation and mobilisation efforts of the party ahead of future elections.

The party said it has formally notified all security agencies in Ekiti State, particularly the Nigeria Police Force, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, and the Department of State Services, to immediately intervene, restore order and bring Hon. Ilesanmi and his accomplices to book in accordance with the law.

The ADC also called on the former Chairman and his cohorts to vacate the State Party Secretariat premises immediately or face the full consequences of their illegal actions.

The statement read in part, “It is not only an affront to the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, but also a gross violation of the Constitution of our great party, the ADC.

“No individual, regardless of past position, has the right to forcefully gain entry or take possession of party property outside due process.

“The party will not allow a few disgruntled elements to hold our members and institutions to ransom.

“The party will take all necessary steps to protect its property and integrity.

“The ADC in Ekiti State is built on the principles of law, order, and internal democracy. We will not allow impunity to thrive within our ranks”.
