In an announcement on the ASX this morning, Cutifani said the decision was made after careful consideration.

“My decision has been made for personal reasons, as I reassess my global professional commitments and identify where I can best devote my time and personal contributions,” he said.

“I wish the Woodside team every success in the future.”

Cutifani has accepted a non-executive director role on the board of gold miner, Northern Resources.

Shareholders will vote on his appointment in November.

Perth has a mix of heat, rain and seesawing temperatures this week, ranging from 20 to 30 degrees.

Things are warming up in the first half of the week and maximums are predicted to reach 30 degrees, before the rain arrives to cool the city down.
