Dangote Cement donates furniture, learning materials to Lagos school
Dangote Cement Plc has donated classroom furniture and learning materials to Ladi-Lak Nursery and Primary School in Apapa, Lagos, in an intervention the company said is aimed at improving teaching and learning conditions at the public school in one of the company’s host communities.
The donation, made through the company’s Clinker Terminal under its school support programme, followed a request from the school for assistance, according to the head teacher, Ayoku Adenike.
The materials included chairs, tables and other educational resources intended to improve classroom conditions for pupils and support teachers in their work.
Receiving the items, Adenike said the intervention had addressed some of the school’s immediate needs and was welcomed by both pupils and staff.
“We are sincerely grateful to Dangote Cement for this kind gesture. What once seemed like a dream has become a reality today,” she said.
She said partnerships between schools and private organisations could help address infrastructure and resource gaps in public education, while appealing for continued support for other needs at the school.
The intervention is under Dangote Cement’s Social Investment Programme, which the company said covers education, healthcare, infrastructure development and economic empowerment in communities connected to its operations.
The Group Head of Social Performance at Dangote Cement, Wakeel Olayiwola, said the company’s community investments were intended to complement government efforts in areas considered important to local development.

“At Dangote, we continuously seek opportunities to support education, healthcare, infrastructure development and economic empowerment. These interventions reflect our belief that thriving communities are essential to sustainable growth,” he said.
Olayiwola urged the pupils to take their education seriously and make use of the opportunities available to them.
Also speaking at the handover, the Head of Clinker Exports and Transport, Boluwarin Aladeniyi, described the facilities as an investment in the pupils’ future and urged them to remain disciplined and committed to their studies.
“The facilities being presented today are more than physical assets. They are a reminder that organisations and individuals believe in your abilities and are committed to helping you succeed,” he said.
Aladeniyi formally handed the materials and furniture to the school management and urged the school to maintain them for the benefit of present and future pupils.
