"Surprisingly addictive" British period drama with Jenna Coleman to be removed from Netflix soon

Time is running out to watch all three seasons of Jenna Coleman's fantastic period drama Victoria on Netflix. The series, which premiered in 2016, sees Jenna as the young Queen Victoria as she grapples with her personal life and responsibilities as the reigning monarch.

All 25 episodes are currently available on Netflix for your binging pleasure, but you'll have to be quick as the series will leave the streaming service on 30 September.

Alongside Jenna, Tom Hughes plays Victoria's husband Prince Albert, while Adrian Schiller, Tommy Knight, Jordan Waller, Nell Hudson, Ferdinand Kingsley, Anna Wilson-Jones, Daniela Holtz and Catherine Flemming also star.

The series was created by Daisy Goodwin and originally aired on ITV in the UK and PBS in the US.

The synopsis reads: "Queen Victoria ascends the throne and asserts her authority in a male-dominated court, resisting political manipulation and those who underestimate her."

Victoria was highly praised by critics throughout its run and currently holds a 87% Fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes with The Arts Desk describing it as "surprisingly addictive".

The Guardian wrote: "Victoria is at its light, good-looking, Sunday evening best when you can sit back and enjoy the soapy ride. It is easier not to have all the facts, or at least to ignore them, for an escapist hour or so."

While Metro said that Coleman and Tom Hughes were "perfectly cast as the royal couple", adding that the show "makes history feel like it's happening now".

The Independent wrote in their review: "Victoria, then, is just another excuse for a sumptuous costume drama, soporific viewing for a Sunday night that you don't have to pay much attention to, as you finish off the red wine and ponder the week ahead."
