Indonesia, Arab, Islamic nations condemn calls to expel Palestinians

Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesia, together with several Arab and Islamic nations, strongly condemned statements made by high-ranking Israeli officials advocating for the forced expulsion of Palestinians from the Gaza Strip.

The joint condemnation was issued by the foreign ministers of Indonesia, Egypt, Jordan, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Turkey and the United Arab Emirates, according to an official statement released by the Indonesian Foreign Affairs Ministry on Monday (September 7).

“The ministers reaffirm their unequivocal rejection and condemnation of any attempts or plans aimed at displacing the Palestinian people, whether within or outside the Occupied Palestinian Territory, under any pretext or justification," the ministers stated.

The joint statement explicitly named Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir and Defense Minister Israel Katz for issuing inflammatory statements promoting the displacement of Gaza's residents.

The ministers noted that such provocative proposals directly violate international law and international humanitarian law, posing a severe threat to the fundamental and inalienable rights of the Palestinian people.

They expressed grave concern over the prospect of these statements becoming official policy or translated into concrete action on the ground, warning that such moves would derail peace initiatives, including US President Donald Trump's Gaza peace plan, which opposes forced displacement.

Reaffirming that the Gaza Strip is an integral part of the occupied Palestinian territory, the joint statement emphasized the necessity of maintaining the territorial integrity of Palestine—spanning Gaza and the West Bank, including East Jerusalem.

The foreign ministers reiterated that a lasting resolution can only be achieved through a two-state solution based on the pre-June 4, 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as the capital of an independent Palestinian state.

Concluding the statement, the ministers urged the international community—particularly the United Nations Security Council (UNSC)—to uphold their obligations by rejecting any attempts to alter the demographic or geographical composition of the occupied Palestinian territories, while reaffirming full support for the Palestinian struggle.
