Liverpool injury update: Dominik Szoboszlai, Jeremie Frimpong, Hugo Ekitike latest news and return dates

But the occasion was marred by the injuries to Szoboszlai and Frimpong, with matches against Villarreal and Brighton looming large in the coming week, not to mention a Carabao Cup clash with Chelsea now just nine days away.
With that in mind, here is all the latest Liverpool injury news and potential return dates...

Dominik Szoboszlai
Dominik Szoboszlai has been dealing with a hamstring injury of late which ruled him out of both last weekend’s defeat by Manchester City and the midweek rout of LASK.
He returned to the starting XI against Brentford, however, in a major boost for Iraola and Liverpool.
The joy was short-lived, though, and he was forced off again just half an hour into the 2-1 win.
Speaking at full-time, Iraola confirmed he had reaggravated the same injury, saying: “He has tried, he has trained the last days, but we didn't know the minutes he'd have. It's not another injury, he's still not healed."
He seems set for a lengthy spell on the touchlines.

Jeremie Frimpong
Jeremie Frimpong endured a frustrating afternoon at the Gtech. Keen to impress after losing his starting place, he came off the bench at half-time but was forced off again with an injury just six minutes later.
He went down holding his leg and hobbled off after receiving treatment, with Rio Ngumoha replacing him.
Speaking at full-time, Iraola simply said he would be ruled out “for some time”.
It is another frustrating setback for Frimpong, who has spent much of his Liverpool career sidelined with hamstring injuries.

Hugo Ekitike
Hugo Ekitike remains in recovery after rupturing his Achilles back in April, but Iraola has been speaking about his condition this week.
The Spaniard has confirmed that he is progressing well in his rehabilitation programme according to his schedule. A return to the pitch, though, does not seem to be close.
After confirming Conor Bradley was closing in on a return to partial team training in the coming weeks, he said: “They are both doing very well.
“Hugo is a little bit behind that but that was always the plan. He is still doing very well according to the plan.”
Potential return date: Late December/Early January

Conor Bradley is fast approaching a return from the devastating knee injury he suffered against Arsenal back in January.
He has been in rehabilitation at Kirkby for nine months now, and speaking this week, Iraola confirmed he will return to partial team training soon.
“(He is) doing very well,” said the Basque.
“I think (he is) in a good place. Conor is not so far from training with the group – not like full training but doing some things with the group.
“I think Conor is not very far from starting doing things with us."
Potential return date: November/December

Giovanni Leoni
Over a year on from joining Liverpool, Giovanni Leoni still has just one appearance to his name. He tore his ACL on debut in the Carabao Cup against Southampton, and has been sidelined since.
And his wait for a second appearance has recently been extended. Offering a rare update on his condition this week, Iraola confirmed Leoni had suffered a setback in his recovery.
“It’s taking more time than we wanted,” he said of Leoni’s recovery.
“The planning was to train with the team in this past international break [but] probably it’s going to be in the next international break, so we’ve lost one month in the process.
“Giovanni’s injury, I wasn’t here but talking to the medical department, it was not just an ACL – it was a bad injury, a lot of things around the knee were involved apart from the ACL.”
He added it is hoped Leoni can return to training during the November international break, suggesting he might return to the pitch before the new year.
