Shaquille O’Neal Net Worth 2026: How Much Is Shaq Worth And What Does He Own?

Translate

Shaquille O'Neal made about $292 million in NBA salary, but that is only a small part of his estimated $500 million fortune. The 54-year-old four-time champion retired in 2011 and has since built a business empire of restaurant franchises, endorsements, TV work and investments. He is even back in college, working on his fifth degree. Not everything he touched turned to gold, though, and he still talks about the one deal he wishes he had taken.

Shaq is worth around $500 million

The $500 million figure comes from Celebrity Net Worth, and Fortune and TheStreet use it too. It is only an estimate. The same site says Shaq still makes about $60 million a year from endorsements and business deals, which could be more than he earned as a player.

On the court, he signed a seven-year, $121 million deal with the Lakers in 1996 and won three straight titles there from 2000 to 2002. He won his fourth with the Heat in 2006. These days, he earns more than $15 million a year on “Inside the NBA”, according to Athlon Sports. Brands like Reebok, Pepsi, Icy Hot, Buick, Gold Bond and Carnival Cruise Line have also paid him to endorse them.

What Shaq owns, and what went wrong

Shaq owns pieces of many food businesses, including Five Guys, Auntie Anne's and Krispy Kreme franchises. He joined the Papa John's board in 2019 and put $840,000 of his own money into an Atlanta franchise. Celebrity Net Worth also says he was an early Google investor. In 2013, he paid $5 million for a 1% stake in the Sacramento Kings and sold it for $11 million in 2021.

Some bets failed. When the crypto exchange FTX collapsed in 2022, he lost the stake he had after working as its spokesperson. And years ago, Starbucks boss Howard Schultz asked him to open stores in Black neighbourhoods. Shaq said no because he had never seen Black people drink coffee, and he has called it his biggest mistake. Magic Johnson took the deal instead.

His homes are spread across the US. He sold his huge 35,000 square foot Orlando mansion for $16.5 million in 2021, but he still owns a 15-acre estate near Atlanta, bought for $1.15 million in 2017. He also bought a house in Carrollton, Texas, for $1.5 million in 2022, and a Las Vegas home for $1.95 million in 2021, though it is unclear if he still has that one.

Shaq is now studying for a master's in criminology at Sacramento State, and last month he was named an honorary FBI special agent.
