Alerty rozesłano do odbiorców późnym wieczorem w niedzielę. Portal The Kyiv Independent pokazał ekran telefonu jednego z redaktorów, na którym widać kilka ostrzeżeń przed możliwym atakiem nuklearnym na terenie Ukrainy, wysłanych w odstępie kilku minut.

"Nie ma zagrożenia promieniowaniem! Zachowaj spokój i śledź nasze aktualizacje na naszym kanale!" - uspokajają przedstawiciele Sił Zbrojnych Ukrainy. W komunikacie w mediach społecznościowych wojsko poinformowało, że system ostrzegania najprawdopodobniej został zhakowany.
