PlayStation Plus Makes 3 Hit Games Completely Free Until November 2

PlayStation Plus subscribers have just a few days left to pick up three games for free, so gear up. October’s lineup includes a Formula 1 racing game, a tense extraction shooter, and a colorful action game about fighting alien threats. All three are available to claim until November 2, giving members a short window to grab them before the monthly selection changes.
The October free PlayStation Plus games lineup consists of F1 25, Hunt: Showdown 1896, and Earth Defense Force: World Brothers 2. The games became available on October 6 and can be claimed by members across the subscription tiers. Note that while these titles are technically “free to keep,” you’d have to maintain an active Plus subscription to continue playing them.
F1 25 Brings Formula 1 Racing to PS Plus
Needless to say, the biggest draw for racing fans is F1 25, Codemasters’ official game based on the 2025 FIA Formula One World Championship. Available on PS5 through this month’s selection, it offers several ways to experience the sport beyond simply competing in individual races.
Career mode lets players work towards success on the track, while My Team 2.0 puts them in charge of their own Formula 1 team. Players can also head online through F1 World, which introduces a multiplayer mode where friends race together as a squad against AI drivers.
The PlayStation Plus opportunity is particularly useful for anyone who’s been curious about the F1 video game franchise but didn’t want to pay the full price tag of $50 for it. After you claim F1 25 for free, you can also choose to get the F126 DLC pack at a discounted price of $23.99: This adds updated seasonal content to the game, including new cars, drivers, tracks, and more.
Hunt: Showdown 1896 Offers a Different Kind of Challenge
If you’re not a fan of racing games, well, neither am I. But I do love action-heavy shooters, and if you’re like me, Hunt: Showdown 1896 is the option for you. Developed by Crytek, this is an online extraction shooter that sends players into dangerous environments filled with monstrous enemies and rival hunters, perfect for that adrenaline rush that you’ve been craving.
Since it’s an extraction shooter, the objective isn’t simply to eliminate everything in sight. Players must track down targets, collect their bounties, and escape alive. Other hunters can stand between them and their rewards, making each expedition a risky decision about how far to push their luck. You can choose to head into the experience alone or team up with friends.
Whether you’re new and inquisitive about the genre or a seasoned extraction shooter player, don’t miss out on Hunt: Showdown 1896.
Earth Defense Force: World Brothers 2 Lets You Fight Alien Invaders
Unlike the realistic gunplay of Hunt: Showdown 1896, Earth Defense Force: World Brothers 2 takes a more colorful approach to battling alien threats. The game uses a blocky, voxel-based art style that might look casual, but its premise is about defending Earth from waves of hostile enemies.
As part of the experience, players must rescue scattered members of the Earth Defense Force and build a team capable of taking on the invading creatures. Its biggest selling point is the multiplayer experience, of course. World Brothers 2 supports up to four players online, while local split-screen allows two players to team up on the same console.
The game is available for both PS4 and PS5, making it the only title in October’s PlayStation Plus monthly lineup that players can claim on Sony’s previous-gen console. Subscribers who prefer co-op action over racing simulations or competitive extraction shooters may find Earth Defense Force: World Brothers 2 the most appealing option of the three.
With the November 2 deadline fast approaching, PlayStation Plus subscribers should claim all three games before they leave the monthly lineup and make way for next month's selection.
