A woman allegedly killed her husband by brutally stabbing him in the abdomen, causing the intestines to spill out. The incident took place at the couple's rented accommodation near Raj Palace on Pehowa Road in Kurukshetra, police said.

After stabbing the husband, the woman tried to stuff his intestines into a plastic bag on the terrace of the building, reported news agency PTI. She was caught in the act by the landlord who reached the spot after hearing a loud argument between the couple at 5 pm.

The accused, Vimla Devi, jumped off the terrace as the landlord, Rinku, arrived and found 40-year-old Rajesh lying a pool of blood. Rinku claimed that Rajesh had suffered deep injuries to his abdomen and Vimla was putting protruding intestines into a polybag.

Devi was seriously injured from the fall and hurt her spine. She has been admitted to a hospital and is undergoing treatment.

Husband's liver, kidney missing

The husband's right kidney and part of his liver were missing, the post-mortem report has revealed. The police are probing if there is link between the disappearance of the organs and the killing.

According to forensic expert Dr Gaurav Kaushik, about half of the deceased's liver and his right kidney were missing, and a deep incision of about 37 centimetres was found on the abdomen. The intestines were spilling out.

Wife was involved in 'jhaad-phoonk'

The deceased husband, who belonged to Dhampur village in Uttar Pradesh, had been living in Kurukshetra with his wife for about a year and was employed as a water-supply worker with a company. The couple had no children.

The landlord claimed that Devi was involved in 'jhaad-phoonk', or traditional healing and exorcism, and the couple frequently quarreled.

Adarsh police station SHO Surender Sandhu said Devi was undergoing treatment and would be questioned after her condition improves. Police will proceed with her arrest and interrogation accordingly, he said.

The police are investigating the circumstances around the killing as well as the disappearance of the liver and kidney.
