Chicago PD season 14 release schedule for US – plus when can UK expect release on Sky Witness?

It's time to return to the (fictional) 21st District, the home of patrol officers and the Chicago Police Department's elite Intelligence Unit.

Launched in 2014, Chicago PD was the first spin-off from Chicago Fire. Sergeant Henry 'Hank' Voight (Jason Beghe) was introduced in the firefighting series as a suspected dirty cop who threatened Fire Lieutenant Matthew Casey, but is now seen in Chicago PD as the respected head of the Intelligence Unit, leading the team that includes Officer Adam Ruzek (Patrick John Flueger), Detective Kim Burgess (Marina Squerciati) and Officer Kevin Atwater (LaRoyce Hawkins).

The 13th season ended with a few plots to be resolved, and the new season promises some changes, including the departure of a much-loved character.

When will Chicago PD air in the US?

The 14th season of Chicago PD is due to premiere in the US on Wednesday 7 October 2026 on NBC.

In the UK, Sky Witness is currently showing season 13 and will not finish until later this year. Fans can expect to wait until 2027 for the 14th season, but a UK release date has yet to be officially confirmed.

Below is the confirmed US release schedule so far for Chicago PD season 14.

• Episode 1: Demolition – Wednesday 7 October 2026
• Episode 2: Don't Blink – Wednesday 14 October 2026

The season is expected to have 21 episodes in total, likely continuing to air on Wednesdays outside of a midseason break, but keep an eye on this page for the latest news on when subsequent episodes will air.

Chicago PD season 14 cast: Who is returning?

It was confirmed in May that Jason Beghe would continue to star as Sergeant Hank Voight in the new season, a role he has played since the show started in 2014.

He will be joined by:

• Marina Squerciati as Detective Kim Burgess
• Patrick John Flueger as Officer Adam Ruzek
• Arienne Mandi as Officer Eva Imani
• Amy Morton as Desk Sergeant Trudy Platt
• Benjamin Levy Aguilar as Officer Dante Torres

However, one original cast member is leaving during the new season. LaRoyce Hawkins, who stars as Officer Kevin Atwater, will only be appearing in the first two or three episodes before leaving the show.

Fans are hoping that Kevin will not be killed off, as in season 13 he learned he was having a baby with Tasha Fox (Karen Obilom), who had relocated to Miami. It's possible that Kevin's exit storyline could have him moving to Florida to start a new life with her and their baby.

A new cast member is expected to be added to the team, with Deadline reporting the new series regular will be "a Black cop who is an agent of chaos."

Chicago PD season 14 plot: What will happen?

Season 13 ended with Hank Voight discovering that Imani's missing sister Shari was responsible for the murder of the woman whose body had led Imani and Voight to ultimately find Shari.

Voight had to decide whether to arrest Shari, or cover up the crime to save Imani from losing her sister for the second time, after they were reunited years after Shari had been abducted as a child. His decision is set to be revealed in the new season, and there are other storylines to resolve, too.

Dante was overcoming his battle with depression, while Kim and Adam decided to move away from Canaryville. Showrunner Gwen Sigan teased to NBC Insider that the previous season set up what will happen in season 14.

"We wanted to focus on sort of why each of them is the way they are, where does that come from, and it was really a fun season to explore," Sigan said. "It wound up really naturally putting them each at this point where they have these big momentous life things happening to each of them. And so it sets [season 14] up to really change with the characters.

"I think it'll be a different season, they have so many new places to explore," she added. "There's so much to play with, so I'm excited. I think we've got just nothing but options."
