LUCENA CITY — A 47-year-old man drowned in a river in Sariaya town in Quezon after being swept away by strong currents amid heavy rains, police said.

The victim, “Armando,” a resident of Barangay Sampaloc Bogon, was crossing the river at about 4 p.m. Tuesday to check on his cows. He failed to return home.

His body was found at about 8:30 a.m. Wednesday in a different section of the river in Barangay Sampaloc 2.

Police are continuing their investigation. For the meantime, the incident has been recorded as a drowning case.
