‘SNL’ Cold Open: ‘Totally Normal’ Natalie Harp Threatens Mamdani Over Trump
The president's alarmingly devoted aide shows up unexpectedly at the pair's New York meeting
Saturday Night Live kicked off Season 52 by addressing one of the more disturbing elements of the Trump administration’s inner workings that came to light over the summer: White House aide Natalie Harp‘s relationship to the president.
Harp, 35, has been Donald Trump‘s executive assistant since his first day back in office, and is often by his side. A former host on right-wing television station One America News and later an aide on Trump’s 2024 campaign, Harp helps manage his social media account, and, as his “human printer,” feeds him positive stories. In letters Harp sent him in 2023—ones that spurred concern among others close Trump—she called him her “Guardian and Protector in this Life,” and wrote, “You are all that matters to me.” During one of Trump’s golf outings that year, Harp was seen running after his golf cart to keep up.
It was this alarmingly devoted energy that SNL‘s Ashley Padilla brought to the role when she burst into a Manhattan meeting between Trump (James Austin Johnson) and New York Mayor Zohran Mamdani (Ramy Youssef).
Trump, amid the nor’easter currently hammering the East Coast, asks, “What kind of reckless lunatic would travel to see me in this kind of weather?” after being informed he has a special visitor.
“Hi, Mr. President! Hi!” says a giggling Harp. Her hair is wet and she is not wearing a jacket.
“Natalie, I didn’t realize you were in New York,” Trump says.
“Oh, I wasn’t. I ran here from D.C., Weapons-style” Harp admits. “I came in case you needed anything, because—” she starts, before breaking into a Beyonce song about how he has been on her mind.
Harp insists she is “totally normal.” But she then approaches Mamdani and whispers a warning in his ear that suggests otherwise.

Trump was at a rare loss for words. “Wow,” was all he could come up with.
