Governor Oyebanji dissolves cabinet, retains three
Ekiti State governor, Biodun Oyebanji, has dissolved the State Executive Council after holding a valedictory session with members of the cabinet.
The session, held at the Exco Chamber, Governor’s Office, Ado-Ekiti, marked the final gathering of the cabinet members as the Oyebanji administration prepares for a new tenure.
The session commenced with hymns, praise songs and thanksgiving to God in appreciation of His goodness and guidance throughout the administration’s first four years.
Oyebanji described members of his dissolved State Executive Council as a formidable team whose contributions helped his administration deliver on its promises to the people.
He expressed gratitude for the divine grace, wisdom and opportunity to serve the people of Ekiti State, noting that his administration had remained committed to making the state a better place for everyone to live.
He commended the cabinet members for their support and contributions to the implementation of his administration’s programmes and policies, assuring them that he would continue to maintain contact with them.
Governor Oyebanji, however, clarified that the dissolution does not affect the Secretary to the State Government, Professor Habibat Adubiaro; the Chief of Staff, Mr Oyeniyi Adebayo; and the Chief Press Secretary, Mr Olayinka Oyebode, who will remain in their respective positions.
In their separate remarks, members of the dissolved State Executive Council recounted their experiences in governance and expressed appreciation to the Governor for the opportunity to serve the state under his leadership.
The event also featured the cutting of a valedictory cake to mark the end of the cabinet’s tenure.
Governor Oyebanji, who was re-elected in the June 20 governorship election, is scheduled to be sworn in for a second term on Friday, October 16, 2026.
His re-election will see him begin another four-year tenure as Ekiti State Governor.
