‘The Batman II’ Production Paused as Director Matt Reeves ‘Focuses on a Family Matter’
The Batman: Part II has been paused temporarily while filmmaker Matt Reeves takes care of a “family matter,” a source told The Hollywood Reporter.
“Production on The Batman Part II has been temporarily paused while Matt Reeves focuses on a family matter,” a DC Studios spokesperson said in a statement to Deadline. “Matt has the full support of DC Studios and we look forward to continuing the journey soon.”
The film, starring Robert Pattinson, had already begun filming in London and had already experienced several delays. It was originally scheduled for release in October 2025, but was postponed for a year to October of this year. It was then pushed to arrive Oct. 1, 2027. Co-written by Reeves and Mattson Tomlin, the film now has a release date of Feb. 18, 2028. It’s unclear if the recent temporary production halt will affect the current release date.
