What's the weather doing?

(Getty Images)

Well, last night we're told there were heavy showers, and those have continued into the morning. It's been solidly raining all morning, we are told, with the prospect of a start on time (we were supposed to have an earlier start at 6.45pm, in fact) looking very unlikely.

But! Depending on who you listen to, it does sound like the rain should start to clear at around midday local time, giving us hopefully a solid block of play in the afternoon and evening sessions. The forecast then for the rest of the week also looks improved, so a result here in Gqeberha is not at all out of the question.

Welcome to day two in Gqeberha

By Dean Bilton

Hello, and welcome back to our live blog coverage of the second Test between South Africa and Australia at St George's Park in Gqeberha.

Day one was almost entirely washed out, with only 12 overs and change completed on a wet and gloomy day. The prospects for day two on that front are not amazing, but we are hopeful of seeing far more cricket today than we did yesterday.

My esteemed colleagues Mr Simon Smale and Mr Henry Hanson are here with me and with you for the night. Here's hoping you can keep us company through the evening, whatever it may bring.
