Jason Statham's Die Hard Replacement Movie Officially Sets New Release

Jason Statham's most recent action thriller, Mutiny, is getting a new release this fall after having an underwhelming performance at the box office over the summer.

Described as being like Die Hard on a boat, Mutiny stars Statham as Cole Reed, the head of security for a billionaire. When he gets framed for his boss' murder, he becomes a stowaway on a cargo ship to figure out the truth and to destroy a crime ring. Statham's co-stars are Annabelle Wallis, Roland Møller and Adrian Lester.

The R-rated film was released in theaters on August 21, but come November 3, Mutiny will be available to buy on 4K Ultra HD (for $42.99), Blu-ray ($39.99) and DVD ($29.96). There will also be a 4K Ultra HD SteelBook ($34.99) exclusively through Amazon.

At this time, it's unknown what special features will be included, if any. Mutiny is already out on Premium Video On Demand (PVOD) platforms like Prime Video, Apple TV, Fandango, Google TV and YouTube.

Lionsgate also revealed the cover for the 4K Ultra HD version, showing Statham's Cole Reed with his gun as seen through one of the cargo ship's portholes:

Filmmaker Jean-François Richet directed Mutiny, his first feature-length movie since 2023's Plane, another action thriller. He's also helmed The Emperor of Paris, Blood Father, One Wild Moment and Assault on Precinct 13. Lindsay Michel and J.P. Davis wrote the script for Mutiny, with Statham and Marc Butan serving as producers.

Unfortunately, Mutiny underperformed at the box office this summer, grossing only $29.3 million against a reported budget of $40 million. Days before its theatrical release, Amazon accidentally posted the entire movie on Prime Video for several hours; it's unclear if this played any part in the low box office returns.

Reviews for Mutiny weren't much better, with critics giving it a 50% on Rotten Tomatoes. Moviegoers who saw the thriller had a much more positive reception, though, with a Rotten Tomatoes score of 86%, showing a major difference between what critics and audiences thought about the film.

Statham is known for being an action star in franchises like The Transporter, The Expendables and Fast and the Furious. His other credits include Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, Snatch, The Italian Job, The Pink Panther, Spy, The Meg and The Beekeeper. Mutiny wasn't his only movie to come out this year; back in January, he starred in Shelter.

Statham's next project is The Beekeeper 2, which releases on January 15, 2027, and will see the actor reprise the character Adam Clay from the first installment. Then he'll play himself in Jason Statham Stole My Bike next August. Until those films are released, fans can watch Mutiny when it becomes available on physical platforms this November.
