Sony Pictures Television has tapped Lauren Glaubach for the newly created role of EVP, Distribution, Digital and Social Platforms.

Reporting to Jason Spivak and Paul Littmann, Presidents of Distribution & Networks, SPT, Glaubach will help drive Sony Pictures Entertainment’s continued expansion across YouTube and digital platform for both film and television content, “while building connections with audiences and creating opportunities for sustained engagement and revenue.”

The hiring of Glaubach follows news earlier this month that SPT distribution and networks co-president Mike Wald would be retiring at year-end after 32 years with the company, and the naming of Spivak and LIttman as Presidents of Distribution & Networks,

Leading Sony Pictures’ global strategy on social and digital platforms, Glaubach will shape and drive a comprehensive growth and monetization strategy that balances long-term brand stewardship with revenue generation, per SPT. She will oversee efforts to deepen audience engagement, extend the reach of the studio’s marketing and promotional initiatives, and unlock new opportunities across the company’s film and television library. She also will lead the continued growth of Sony Pictures’ digital channel portfolio, maximizing the value of the studio’s extensive collection of franchises, brands, and intellectual property across social and digital platforms.

“Lauren has spent her career working at the intersection of content, platforms, and audiences, and has a proven track record of building and growing digital businesses,” said Spivak and Littmann. “We’re very pleased to have her join SPT and are excited about what we can accomplish together.”

Glaubach joins SPT from Pinterest, where she served as Vice President, Head of Global Content Partnerships, leading an international team responsible for overseeing the platform’s content producer network and growing creator communities. Prior to Pinterest, she spent more than a decade at YouTube in senior strategy, programming, partnerships and operations roles, most recently serving as Director, Global Head of Kids & Family Content Partnerships & Programming. During her tenure at YouTube, Glaubach managed a partner portfolio of more than 500 channels spanning traditional media and YouTube-first creators, and built a creator ecosystem across YouTube Kids, Supervised Experiences and the main YouTube app.

“The ways audiences engage with entertainment continue to evolve, creating meaningful opportunities to extend the reach and impact of the stories and franchises they love,” said Glaubach. “I’m excited to join Sony Pictures and work with this talented team to develop digital experiences that meet audiences where they are, deepen their connection to our content, and open up new possibilities for our iconic brands.”

Her appointment comes at a time of significant momentum across Sony Pictures Television’s digital business. Recent initiatives include the announcement of Jeopardy! YouTube Edition Volume 2, the launch of Reading Rainbow on YouTube, and a newly announced partnership with Professor Brian Cox to develop premium original content for global digital audiences.

Earlier in her career, Glaubach held strategy, brand management and marketing roles at The Walt Disney Company and BloomSpot. She earned an MBA from Harvard Business School and a B.A. from Princeton University.
