Police have launched a manhunt after the Lekone twins, Kegomodicoe and Keabecoe, both 52, were shot dead inside their vehicle in Bochabela, Bloemfontein, on the morning of Wednesday, 21 October.

The brothers were sitting in their bakkie at a gate when the gunfire started.

Minutes later, a man was seen running to a waiting getaway car.

Now police are asking the public to help them find the suspects.

The shooting happened in Ramatsoele Street, Bochabela, in Mangaung.

The twin brothers were the owners of Ekhayeni Lounge Bar.

WHAT HAPPENED?

According to the South African Police Service (SAPS), Mangaung police received a report of a shooting in progress at about 08:51.

Officers on patrol arrived at the scene at about 09:00.

The brothers were inside their charcoal-coloured Ford Ranger at the gate of the premises when they were shot. Kegomodicoe was driving.

Both men suffered gunshot wounds, and paramedics declared them dead at the scene.

WHAT THE WITNESS SAW

A witness who was inside a double-storey building on the premises heard gunshots from upstairs.

When he rushed outside, he saw a man running towards a white Chevrolet Aveo hatchback, which then sped off.

The witness couldn’t tell whether the man was carrying anything.

According to SAPS, the car sped away, allegedly with other occupants already inside.
