ETimes review of 'Jailer 2'
ETimes awarded the movie three out of five stars. The review noted that the second half becomes more serious and violent but does not fully deliver on the promise of the opening portion. The review read, "It is in the second half, that things turn serious, bloody and somewhat less impactful to what the first half promised.
Jailer and the Kalpaks involved in a game of who-blinks-first, and there is tension at the plot level because the Kalpaks come across as real threats.
They are a close-knit family, smart, have the muscle power and even use snipers, just like Jailer. And there is the constant underlying threat of the truth about Jailer's son being discovered by his grieving family (Ramya Krishnan, Mirna) and how they might react to it.
But Nelson chooses to stage this as a series of generic mass hero moments, making it seem like an easy cakewalk for Jailer. Even a major revelation gets brushed away as a not too important conflict in the next couple of scenes.
What should have been a punch emotional action film about ties of the blood becomes a regular action film where blood is spilled like water."DISCLAIMER: The box office numbers and the data in this article are compiled from public and industry sources.
