SIBU, Nov 7 — A 19-year-old youth died after being stabbed in the chest during an incident at a public park along Jalan Gambir here around midnight last night.

The victim was reportedly at the park with a group of young men and women when an argument broke out, allegedly leading to the stabbing.

He sustained a stab wound to the chest and was rushed to hospital for emergency treatment but later succumbed to his injuries.

It is understood that nearby residents heard a woman screaming from the direction of the park, prompting them to alert the police.

Police are believed to have arrested two men in their 20s to assist in investigations.

When contacted today, Sibu District Police Chief ACP Abang Zainal Abidin Abang Ahmad confirmed that the case was still under investigation.

“The case is still under further investigation,” he said. — The Borneo Post
