Adele Lim, who co-wrote the original film, will serve as showrunner and executive producer. Kwan, director Jon M. Chu, and producers Nina Jacobson and Brad Simpson are also among the executive producers.

The upcoming series carries significance for Filipino audiences, particularly because of Kris Aquino’s appearance in the original film. Aquino played Princess Intan, a Malaysian princess who attends the wedding of Colin Khoo and Araminta Lee.

Released in 2018, “Crazy Rich Asians” became a major commercial success, earning approximately $239 million worldwide. It was widely recognized for bringing a predominantly Asian cast to a major Hollywood romantic comedy.
