The Kano State Pilgrims Welfare Board has completed arrangements to refund excess Hajj deposits to intending pilgrims who paid N8m as an initial deposit for the 2027 Hajj exercise.
In a statement on Wednesday, the board’s Public Relations Officer, Sulaiman Dederi, said the Director-General of the board, Abubakar Matawalle, disclosed this in his office.
“Arrangements have been concluded for the refund of excess payments to 500 intending pilgrims who initially deposited N8,000,000 each,” the Director-General was quoted as saying.
He explained that following the announcement of the final Hajj fare of N7,672,822, each of the affected pilgrims is entitled to a refund of N327,178, representing the difference between the initial deposit and the final fare.
Matawalle therefore urged all affected pilgrims to visit the board through their respective Local Government Hajj Centre officers and submit the necessary documents to facilitate the refund process.

The required documents include their bank account details, a photocopy of the original payment receipt and a formal letter of request for the refund.
He said the documents must be submitted on or before Monday, 26 October 2026, to enable the commencement of payments.
Matawalle commended the Kano State Government for its continued support and contributions towards ensuring the welfare of pilgrims in the state.
