News24 | Rape-accused former top cop Shadrack Sibiya denied bail

Former top cop Shadrack Sibiya was denied bail in the Randburg Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday.

“The finding of the court is that the applicant failed to show exceptional circumstances that permit the applicant’s release on bail,” Magistrate Hleziphi Mkhasibe said.

Sibiya is facing charges of sexual grooming of a child, promoting sexual grooming of a child, rape, and trafficking in persons.

It is alleged that he sexually groomed a 16-year-old girl between July and August this year and raped an 18-year-old at a Sandton hotel in May.
