Javier Tebas made quite a stir on Friday when he commented on those working at Real Madrid TV as spreading propaganda like Joseph Goebbels, the German minister of propaganda during the Nazi era. He was speaking about the TV channel’s reaction to the La Liga referees making some controversial calls during Real Madrid matches
Real Madrid, through an official statement, asked for Tebas’ immediate resignation for making the comments, as they believe this is not a neutral opinion and is unprofessional. This is despite the La Liga president’s clarification that the comments were not about the club’s identity, ideology or the fans.

The National Sports Council (CSD) of Spain has referred Tebas to the country’s sports tribunal and asked it to assess whether his comments violate sporting dignity and decorum.
According to the CSD, Tebas’ comments could be a “potential violation of Article 76.4.b of Law 10/1990 on Sport, which classifies ‘notorious and public acts that infringe upon sporting dignity or decorum’ as serious infractions.” The sanctions for such infractions could include warnings, fines or even potential suspension.
