Fourth suspect arrested over theft of weapons from Israel's Shayetet 13 Navy SEALs base

Authorities on Friday arrested a fourth suspect linked to the theft of three M4 carbine rifles from the Shayetet 13 Navy SEALs base in Atlit, a Monday statement confirmed.

The fourth suspect is a 27-year-old resident of Netanya with a criminal record, who is suspected of stealing weapons, possessing weapons without authorization, conducting a transaction involving stolen weapons, and conspiracy to commit a crime.

The three others arrested were a 27-year-old from Eilat, a 24-year-old from Netanya, and an IDF sergeant whose detention is being discussed within the military court. Israel Police is conducting the investigation alongside the Military Police's Criminal Investigation Division.

A police representative argued that the fourth suspect's role in the incident was "central" during a hearing at the Haifa Magistrate's Court. The police officer also said that the arrest warrant was signed on September 9, and police worked to locate him before arresting him at his Netanya home on September 11.

An investigator said the suspect's version of events does not match the evidence found in the case and even strengthens the accusatory picture investigators are laying out.

The suspect also refused to answer whether the stolen weapons had been found, authorities added.

Authorities approve extension of all four suspects in case

A judge reviewed the investigation and approved extending the detention of the fourth suspect until at least September 17.

On Thursday, Haifa Magistrate's Court ruled that the detention of the two civilians should be extended by at least five more days, and the Navy Military Court ruled that the sergeant's detention should be extended by at least seven more days.
