Olivia Colman flaunts new long, grey hair as fans applaud star's natural look

Olivia Colman has flaunted her new long grey hair as she stepped out on the red carpet to promote her new film.

On Monday, the 52-year-old attended the Zurich Film Festival screening of her upcoming film Wicker, in which she stars alongside Alexander Skarsgård.

Ditching the pixie cut she has long become known for, the star instead embraced her natural colour and texture. She styled her long hair, the longest it's been in nearly a decade, in a side part.

She last sported longer hair in 2017, when she attended the London premiere of Murder on the Orient Express, though her hair back then was a dark chocolate brown.

Alongside her new eye-catching hair, Colman wore a white dress with a mini bow detailing, coupled with matching white trousers and boots.

Fans praised the rebrand as looking “effortless and cool”.

“Personally I think this is the best Olivia Coleman’s ever looked. I’ve always hated the adage of ‘long hair is for the young’,” said one social media user.

“Stunning,” another said, whilst a fourth said: “I actually think she looks younger and fresher with her natural hair.”

Wicker, out October 30, is based on the short story “The Wicker Husband” by Ursula Wills-Jones.

It follows Colman’s character, whose search for love is hindered by her fishy odour. She decides to commission a basket weaver, played by Peter Dinkelage, to fashion her a husband made out of wicker (Skarsgård).

Her new partner, who is attentive and treats her as an equal, causes the local women to become enraged with jealousy and demand more from their own partners, with the village order of life soon disrupted.

Colman called the film “one of the best and most original scripts I’d read in a long time”.

Skarsgård has also heaped praise on the film, whilst poking fun at his intense prosthetics he had to wear to become the wicker man.

“Most male actors dream of playing Hamlet at some point in their career. I never did,” he joked. “My dream was always to have nipples made out of wicker. Thanks to our wonderful directors, Eleanor and Alex, and the brilliant artists at Weta in New Zealand, my dream has finally come true.”
